I never realized how much I loved lilacs until this year. Although I have been living in Spokane Washington for 10 years now I just recently heard that we are also known as the Lilac City. I enthusiastically embraced this new found knowledge and incorporated it into a few of my sessions in the short time they were blooming. It is the little things in life that make me so happy. And my long time obsession with flowers is one of them. Ten years ago when I arrived in Spokane I was torn between two career paths. I do have a degree in floral design but ultimately I choose photography because it is what I have always done and I love it more and more with every year that passes. But My love for flowers has a strong influence on my work. Now lets talk about this beautiful mother to be! When Lisa contacted me for a maternity session I was excited for the opportunity to create portraits for them once again. I am always in love with Lisa's style. Her hair, clothes and overall eye for anything that is so uniquely her inspires me. And of course she showed up looking as perfect as always. It makes me wish I could pull off what she does. No one can wear a pair of feather earrings like she can! Their daughter has grown so much since the last time. She is such a stunning little doll. And she is so sweet. Ender (the most loved dog in the world...I am convinced) made his appearance too.
Thank you to the W family for choosing Kim Stadler Photography for your maternity session. My hope is that this session brings you joy. I hope that I documented the beauty and love that you have for one another and for your much adored Ender. It has been a privilege.
I have a lot I can say about this session...Other than having such a great time with Nicole and her adorable little girl who rocks the perfect amount of sass and spunk! I was able to create images that were very much for me and the artist side of me that needs a little love sometimes!I have been operating Kim Stadler Photography for about a decade here in Spokane. And this Spring was as unpredictable as any other. Nicole was coming from a few hours away for her maternity session. We woke up to rain. And not just rain, but pouring rain. Of course this rain was no where in the forcast. The rain finally subsided in the mid afternoon. We thought we would be working with an overcast sky. But once again, in the true nature of Spokane we had the bright hot sun come out. We started our session with less than ideal light. However sometimes it is the challenges that push me and inspire me. So with the not so ideal (yet glorious) light and a stunning mother and child we went for it. Embracing the gorgeous Lilacs from our Lilac City, surviving the ticks and dodging a creep that wanted to hang out with us....lets just say it was a laugh filled experience I don't think any of us will forget! From here on out I will be carrying my Doterra Bug Spray, I will have my Buff Partner in Crime along with me to keep the weirdos away, and I will let myself do things I love like light prisms (yes, those are in camera real!). The rainbows make me happy. And who doesn't want to be happy?!Last but not least, Thank you Nicole for choosing Kim Stadler Photography for your Maternity Portraits. I hope you cherish them always!
Spokane and Eastern Washington has four distinct seasons. These seasons create interesting opportunities to use nature as our backdrop. The scenery is constantly changing. From month to month we have unique opportunities to create portrait sessions! Every season is my favorite for different reasons. The month of May is one that I live for! The lush green grasses that have yet to dry out in the summer heat. The big beautiful wild flowers. It's all too perfect! This location was perfect for this sweet little family.
I have been photographing these children since Zoe was just days old. Their Parents and I met on a Spokane Photography forum about 7 years ago. I so enjoy my loyal clients that come back to me year after year. I try to always give them (and all my clients) quality portraits that they will love and continue to enjoy for the rest of their lives. Little Max's 1 year birthday came at the perfect time so that we could use the lush green grass and the bold rich yellow flowers that we have come to love here in the Pacific North West. As a photographer I wait all year for these beautiful blooms and I use them as much as I possibly can during the short window that they are available. Thank you to Emily and Jason for trusting me to create portraits of their children and family through out the years! It means the world to me!
Day Two of Kim Stadler Photography Mother's Day sessions were great. A few families opted out of having their portraits online (I always respect my clients privacy). So that leaves more room for these gorgeous moms! The weather was absolutely perfect both days. I cannot believe our luck. As you know Spring time in Spokane can be quite unpredictable. It can be snowing, raining, lightening storms or sunny 70 degrees in the course of a week. Most of the time my guess is as good as the weather man's! Day two was photographing mother's and children until the sun went down and it was so much fun. I am already excited for next year! Thank you for choosing Kim Stadler Photography for your Mother's Day portraits. And a shout out to the husbands who bought these sessions for their wives for presents. How sweet is that?!
